Professor Fernando Zelaya’s research is focused on the development and application of novel Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) methods to provide quantitative information on brain physiology and metabolism. He is currently using these methods to measure CMRO2 (cerebral metabolic rate for oxygen) in a variety of investigations employing the clinical MRI scanners at the Centre for Neuroimaging Sciences and at the NIHR King’s Clinical Research Facility.  Professor Zelaya is also working to establish MRI techniques to evaluate Blood-Brain Function and markers of glymphatic transport in the human brain.
