Johnny Downs is a Professor of Child Psychiatry and Health Informatics in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience at King’s College London. He is the Deputy Theme Lead for the Child Mental Health and Neurodevelopmental Disorders Theme in the NIHR Maudsley BRC.

Johnny Downs leads the CAMHS Digital Lab, which is dedicated to developing and evaluating tools that streamline clinical processes within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, provide population-level insights, and offer innovative approaches to understanding young people’s needs.

Clinically, Johnny is an Honorary Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in local CAMH services across South London and Maudsley, mainly within ADHD assessment and Review clinics in Croydon and Lewisham Boroughs.

His research focuses on leveraging digital information for epidemiological studies that examine risk factors and outcomes related to childhood neurodevelopmental and mental health disorders.
