IoPPN Research Festival 2026 - Discovery, Research Culture, and the Path to Impact

  • 13/05/2026
  • 13:00pm – 16:45pm
  • Wolfson Lecture Theatre, IoPPN, 16 De Crespigny Park, London SE 8AB

This year’s theme is Discovery, Research Culture, and the Path to Impact“, celebrating the full journey of research — from generating new insights to advancing them along the path to impact. By bringing discovery and research culture together, we want to spotlight the people, partnerships, and practices that shape our evolving academic landscape. Join us as we explore how a thriving research culture accelerates impact and strengthens our shared commitment to improving mental health and neuroscience for the communities we serve.

The festival will showcase research from all parts of IoPPN and at all career stages, including research staff, academic staff and colleagues in professional services. This year, we are also pleased to include speakers with lived or living experience, recognising their vital contribution to shaping impactful, person-centred research.

Gerome Breen, Theme Lead for the BioResource for Mental Health and Professor of Psychiatric Genetics, has been announced as keynote speaker. He will present From Volunteers to Biopsychosocial Discovery: Building a National Omics Cohort for Depression and Anxiety as part of GLAD Mental Health Goas programme.

This year’s other keynote speakers are:

Stephani Hatch, Professor of Sociology and Epidemiology, and Vice Dean for Culture, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, on Accelerating equity in mental health through inclusive research culture and practices

Deepak Srivastava, Professor of Molecular Neuroscience on HumanRelevant Models, Research Culture and Enabling Neuroscience
