The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre and Dementia Unit (BRC/U) is administered within the framework of the joint Research and Development Office at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience at King's College London and South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust under the leadership of Director Professor Matthew Hotopf (Biomedical Research Centre, BRC) and Professor Clive Ballard (Biomedical Research Unit for Dementia, BRU-D)

The BRC/U is structured around five clusters of activity each comprising several themes, overseen by a clinical academic lead, who is responsible for developing and implementing the research strategy of the Cluster. Decision making takes place through regular local Cluster Boards which have representation from individual programme theme leaders and researchers.
