Research Career Development
We aim to support and train the next generation of clinical and non-clinical researchers who will help deliver transformative changes in mental health care.
Our clinical trainees come from NHS medical (particularly psychiatry and neurology) and allied healthcare professions. Non-clinical trainees join us with backgrounds in neuroscience, psychology, biological science, social science, physical science, mathematics and statistics.
Our funding opportunities include:
- Non-clinical PhD Studentships
- Preparatory Clinical Research Training Fellowships
- Pre-preparatory Clinical Research Training Fellowships for nurses and AHPs
Students, trainees and secondees have access to the outstanding educational and training support within the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, King’s College London and become members of the NIHR Academy.
EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Data-Driven Health (DRIVE-Health)
We are also integrated with DRIVE-Health, which is training the next generation of health data scientists, computer scientists, software developers, and AI and machine learning researchers.
King’s Clinical Academic Training Office (KCATO)
KCATO provides training opportunities and support for research-active health professionals working across King’s Health Partners. It offers guidance, funding opportunities, professional development programmes and events that help clinical academics navigate the complexities of their professional pathway. Professor Rina Dutta is Deputy Director of KCATO.
