CRF facilities

The NIHR King's Clinical Research Facility (CRF) comprises three main research facilities. Each area has been designed and built to compliment the other in terms of ability to offer a unique and neutral space to carry out trials in a dedicated research setting.  It is the only NIHR CRF built specifically with mental health research in mind.

The Experimental Medicine Facility is housed over two floors. Entry to both floors is via the CRF reception on the first floor of King’s College Hospital and has a security controlled entrance.

The second floor of the CRF houses the Cell Therapy Unit. In terms of manufacturing capacity, this is one of the largest facilities of its kind in Europe, with capacity to produce more than six final products simultaneously and with potential for production of around 1,000 therapies annually.

The Clinical Trials Facility, on the ground floor, divides into two major areas: a bedded/chair facility, with one isolation (quiet) room bed, and a suite of 11 fully reclining chairs as well as guest areas.

WiFi networks (guest, hospital and eduroam) are available throughout all facilities.
