Professor Matthew Hotopf to receive CBE

Professor Matthew Hotopf, Director of the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) and Vice Dean of Research at Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, King’s College London, has been awarded a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday honours list for services to mental health research.

BBC Radio 4's Storm and Stress

Dr Sally Marlow’s new radio series, Storm and Stress: New Ways of Looking at Adolescent Mental Health, begins on BBC Radio 4 on Tuesday 12 June. The series focused on the mental health of 16 - 25 year olds, and features contributions from colleagues from across the NIHR Maudsley BRC, from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) at King’s and the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.

Successful early intervention approach to eating disorders rolled out across England

A programme called First Episode Rapid Early Intervention for Eating Disorders (FREED) developed by NIHR Maudsley BRC researchers demonstrated the positive impact of early intervention. Teenagers and young adults (aged 16-25) who came forward for treatment were contacted within 48 hours and commenced treatment as soon as two weeks later.
