We made the headlines - from the news that 1 in 5 of us experience misophonia, to the links between mental illness and shorter life spans. Our blog explored topical issues, looking at how we can develop an ethical AI for healthcare, and the impact of the welfare system on mental health, among other subjects.

Our NIHR Maudsley BRC Champion for Culture, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Dr Pinto da Costa recently co-authored a study published in the journal European Psychiatry surveying over 500 psychiatrists on the gender-specific challenges currently faced by the profession. In this blog she discusses the insights from the study and calls for a more inclusive and equitable future.

The National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR) has awarded £6.8 million to King’s College London to establish a new Research Support Service that will focus on mental health and neuroscience. Led by Professor Richard Emsley, the Research Support Service managed by King’s College London will form part of a national network of eight RSS hubs which will start work from 1 October 2023.
