BRC research awarded prize for openness

The Center for Open Science has awarded a $1,000 prize to NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) researchers, for publishing the results of their pre-registered clinical trial on memory-focused cognitive therapy as a potential treatment for cocaine use disorder.

Concentrated naloxone nasal spray as good as injection

A new study published by the scientific journal Addiction has found that a concentrated 2mg intranasal naloxone spray delivers naloxone as effectively, over the critical first 15 minutes, as the standard 0.4mg intramuscular (IM) naloxone injection. The research was co-authored by Professor Sir John Strang and Dr Rebecca McDonald, National Addiction Centre, Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN), King’s College London.
