Event: Pint of Science 2016

Date: Monday 23 May, 2016

Time: 19:00 - 22:00

Location: The Pavilion End, 23 Watling Street, London, EC4M 9BR, United Kingdom

Ever wondered how your brain is built? And how your brain changes over time? Find out more over a pint as part of the 2016 Pint of Science Festival.

Join researchers from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience at King's College London, with Richard Wingate (Senior Lecturer in Developmental Neurobiology) showing how imagination is necessary (if not entirely sufficient) to make scientific discoveries in the brain, and Sandrine Thuret (Head of the Adult Neurogenesis and Mental Health Laboratory and Lecturer in Neuroscience) asking whether we can grow new brain cells.

This event is supported by the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre and Dementia Biomedical Research Unit (BRC/U) at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King’s College London.

Book your tickets at the Pint of Science website - but hurry, they are selling out fast and two other events - Intelli-genes: Wiring intelligence and Brain, genes and body: a Ménage à trois? - are sold out.

Pint of Science is the world’s largest festival of public science talks, and takes place 23-25 May 2016.

The international, three day Pint of Science festival will see thousands of scientists simultaneously standing up and talking about their research in 100 cities across 12 countries around the world. Founded only four years ago by two UK researchers, the festival today brings a unique line up of talks, demonstrations and live experiments to the world’s favourite watering holes.  In London, 30 local researchers from King’ College London take the stage in pubs across the city, including The Battersea Barge, a pub situated on the River Thames.  Tickets are available from the Pint of Science website, with each evening costing only £4.
